Adjunct Professor-Sports Broadcasting at Westminster College
August 2012 - Present | New Wilmington, PA***Asked back to teach this course for the Fall 2014 Semester*** Taught the Fall 2012 Sports Broadcasting course for 15 students. Goal was to make this a very hands-on learning experience. Took the role of the student in creating the syllabus from scratch; "what would I want to do as a student?" Assignments included heavy emphasis on writing, as well as photography and videography. Special projects included covering a press conference introducing the new Men's Head Basketball Coach, a First Take-style debate, and final project that included the creation of a resume and demo reel worthy to submit for a job or internship. Several guest speakers visited us, including WFMJ's Dana Balash, and Youngstown State men's basketball play by play voice Robb Schmidt. Students were responsible for maintaining our Facebook and Twitter feeds. The Westminster Sports Information office was so impressed with their live in-game tweeting, the official WC feed began doing the same. Students were credentialed members of the media for the Cavaliers/Bucks game in Cleveland in mid-December to gain Real World experience. They were able to take part in Head Coach Byron Scott's pre and post-game interview sessions.
